IWC and A. Lange & Sohne Launch iPhone Apps
Everyone is doing it and now IWC and A. Lange & Sohne are too: launching apps available via download for Apple’s widely popular iPhone.
Luxury watch companies are some of those that have started creating interactive applications to promote their brands and products any way they can and why not? It’s the way of the 21st century. IWC and Sohne are both owned by the Richemont Group, which also claims Cartier watches as one of its own.
The timing of IWC’s application launch should be noted; the Swiss brand which tends to fly under the radar so to speak, received some big attention as 2009 came to a close. In an online poll conducted by Luxist.com, IWC won the distinction of being favorite luxury watch brand, beating out other brands like Rolex, Audemars Piguet, Jaeger Le-Coultre and Patek Philippe.
IWC watches are loved by those who know them; they are extremely well crafted and can come with hefty price tags, but tend not to “make a lot of noise” by using a lot of bling. On its new app, the entire IWC collection is available and there is an interactive “play area” for fans; where users can simulate trying on an IWC watch.
In A. Lange & Sohne’s app, the focus is on its recently released Zeitwerk timepiece, which combines a jumping hours and jumping minutes complication. To explore the complexity of this watch, users can disassemble parts of it, as well as see news and images of other Sohne watches.
